So which acne treatment is best?
« on: November 05, 2006, 07:35:00 pm »
Ah, so confused! I was looking into getting a microdermabrasian for acne scars, but read only bad things. So there is this Levulin and blue light and fraxil, right? Anybody have a definitve preference for acne scar removal? It\'s hard to draw any conclusions...I appreciate your help! - quinn

 Hi quinn!

I had my Chicken pox scars excised and then stitched. About five months after that, I had dermabrasion done to them and then finally---I had Aquamid filler to fill the least bit of shallowness left to my scars.

Now, for surface "white" scars, IPL has helped a lot and other laser treatments can help as well.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner----I have bot been on this board lately.

Hugs!

Laser resurfacing is so drastic, I would try other less invasive treatments---YES, IPL.   Does your scar have a color to it or is it whitish?
Does your scar have any sort of indention?

YES! Thank you soo soo much for your help!

Hi quinn! Sorry for not getting back sooner.  I know that scars with any
depth to them, can be treated with fillers such as Silikon and
Aquamid--this has worked very well for me in the final stages of getting
rid of my scars. Like I said before, my Chicken pox scars were excised and
sewn to make them smaller, then I had dermabrasion (not micro dermabrasion)
but the sanding type dermabrasion. After my scars healed, I had any
remaining depth to my scars filled in with facial fillers that I mentioned
above. My face is really smoother.

Now, as far as the "white type" scars, IPL did help---but I still have one
tiny scar that is a little white. If you keep in mind that scar dissipation
is a process and not a one shot deal, you have mastered the understanding
of scars. There is really no quick fix. I had a friend that had "needling"
done to her scars and she swears by it! Needling is done with a tattoo gun,
and tiny pricks are made around and on the scar which in turns stimulates
collagen beneath the skin and fills in the scar.  Just thought I\'d mention
 this to you as well.

 I hope I helped you a little. :)

Maybe you are talking about the dermabrasion and not the microdermabrasion. The dermabrasion procedure is done under local sedation and it leaves your face rathe raw! I had a few old Chicken pox scars and I had dermabrasion over them and it did help. How deep are your scars?

The process of eliminating current and old acne scarring HAS NO CUT AND DRY SOLUTION---but rather an accumulative of treatments to diminish the scars.

I have come a long way with my cystic acne scars to where they are extremely faint and 90% better. Also, a treatment called "needling" has helped so many people with scars.

Copper Peptides are great for helping restore your skin\'s youth and beauty!
